PASTOR'S
PERSPECTIVE

Pastor Eddie Windsor

Champian Life Church

As a Pastor to many kingdom business people, I have come to understand that there is no one more passionate or capable of expanding the kingdom of God than the business- person who begins to connect their role in the marketplace, with the eternal purposes of God.  The result is a freedom to see that the workplace goes hand in hand with their love for people and love for God.

Many of the movers and shakers throughout the bible were the business leaders of their time…. Historically, businessmen and women were called to work closely with the Priests and Prophets of the day. They knew how to hear God's voice and be led by Him. They were people with the resources and often influence to get things done.

Today millions of men and women are similarly called to full-time ministry in business, education and government—the marketplace.

The Business person today no longer has to feel that their work day is something they must hurry through so they can "go serve God", but that by being called to the marketplace, they are serving Him and will be used by Him there like no other place.

The anointed businessperson can be the channel for influence, leadership, finances and ability to expand the Kingdom beyond the church. Their ministries in the marketplace are often rooted in their influence and prosperity.

I see a new generation of Christian businessmen and women having the potential to change the 21st century marketplace by being led by God to impact people while generating greater resources for the kingdom than ever before in history.

We may not have a pastor or chaplain on the construction site or in the boardroom.

                                          We have something better..... You!

Business Pastor
Real Estate Investor
Renaissance Ltd. Investment Corp.

Q-
I have been planning on  starting my own business for some-time. The company I was employed with just went through major cutbacks. With the economy today, would it be advisable to start a new business now?
A-
I actually started my own business during one of the worst downtimes in recent history.
Although I do not endorse the logic of it, I have to say that it was because of the economy at the time that caused me to learn what I believe is the strength of what became a very successful business model.

1. Hard Work/Smart Work-building a business during the downtime caused me to work feverishly for each customer or job. I personally learned how to beat the brush (so to speak) and not think if they didn't just come to me or call me that the work was not out there....NO... I went out and found it.
Way out of my comfort zone.
But because I learned how to do that I ended up with all of those job relation-ships that continued even into the peak business times thus increasing our business to one of the largest in the area at that time.

2.
Customer Service-Ford Motor Co. states it takes five times more effort and cost to gain one new customer as it takes to maintain one current customer.
Previous, satisfied clients are the greatest source for future business. Especially if you are in the kind of business that would be used by a single customer once every few years, such as real estate, remodel perhaps a car salesman.
We all like to talk about what we are happy about. Make them happy, you will be the talk of the town and the word of the mouth is the most efficient method to acquire new leads and prospects.

3.
The value of every dollar-learning how to anticipate the off seasons and save during the upswings enabled me to stay afloat when many of my competitors created top heavy businesses during upsurges with much higher overhead and when a downturn took place again, went under.

Being in business as long as I have the one thing that has always been constant is ups and downs. It is nothing new, it just may be new to you. Often when customers are plentiful and jobs come easy we can be lulled to think it will always be like this. Surprise but no surprise.

So in answer to your question, the best thing I personally could have done was begin my new business at the worst time. It caused me to be creative, think out of the box and formed my work philosophy. Work Hard / Work Smart.
